Facilitating Women’s Collective

ARCOD is working for the empowerment of rural women. As a part of this, ARCOD is facilitating Surabi federation of Women Self Help Groups in Kangayam of Thiruppur District. 

This Surabi federation has about 30 Women SHGs with around 500 members. The federation was formed in the year 2002. It has been registered under Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act later in the year 2006.  The federation is pooling the savings of its member SHGs and lending the amount to the members for a nominal rate of interest. The federation has own building for its meeting and administration office.

ARCOD has also been extending services for micro credit. Loans are given for purposes of Petty shop, Agriculture, Cow & Sheep rearing, Snacks & Vegetables selling, Tailoring, Handloom, Workshop, Cloth selling and Education.

 

This leads to the economic development of the family. Side by side ARCOD has been empowering the women by concentrating on social issues affecting them.
